Instagram post size

The sizes for Instagram feed posts in 2026, portrait 1080 × 1350, 3:4 at 1080 × 1440, square 1080 × 1080 and landscape 1080 × 566, with a resizer that crops your photo in the browser.

1080 × 1350

The most room in the feed for a photo.

Runs in your browser. Nothing you type or upload is sent anywhere.

Instagram displays feed posts 1080 pixels wide and accepts any shape between 1.91:1 (landscape) and 4:5 (portrait). Portrait takes the most of the screen as people scroll, which is why most creators use it.

Your profile grid shows each post as a 3:4 tile, taller than a square and shorter than 4:5. A 4:5 post is trimmed a little at the top and bottom on the grid, and a 3:4 post fits it exactly. Choose 3:4 when the grid matters to you; the 3:4 preview shows the grid crop.

The resizer works on your device. The image is never uploaded.

Questions about instagram post size

Anything else, write to support@cuedm.com.

What happens if my photo is a different shape?
Instagram asks you to crop it into the allowed range. Cropping here first lets you choose exactly what stays in.
Should I upload bigger than 1080 pixels wide?
You can, but Instagram scales it to 1080 wide anyway. Uploading at 1080 means you see the sharpness you'll get.
