Instagram character counter
Count a caption against 2,200 characters, a bio against 150 and a name against 64, see where the feed cuts a caption off, and count its hashtags and mentions.

Instagram cuts off a caption in the feed after the first line or two, roughly 125 characters, and adds “… more”. Whatever you need people to read, a keyword to comment or the offer, belongs before that point.
The counter counts what you see as characters (an emoji with a skin tone is one), and spaces and line breaks count too.

Questions about instagram character counter
Anything else, write to support@cuedm.com.
Do hashtags count towards the caption limit?
Yes, every character of them, including the #. The counter also counts how many you have: since December 2025 Instagram allows five per post or Reel.
Do emoji count as one character?
Here, yes: one emoji is one character, as you see it. Some apps count by storage units instead, where an emoji can be two or more.
What's the limit for a comment or a DM?
Comments share the caption's 2,200. DMs allow 1,000 characters per message.
